MLT in BC - need insights from women

Education

hi, I'd appreciate any insights from MLTs in BC.

I am in my mid 30s(F), I moved to Canada 2 years ago and since then have struggled to find a job in tech. basically my profession has been almost eliminated by AI. I really need stability in this economy, and looking at the current tech market, I don’t see much opportunity. So I came to the decision to go back to school for ML Technologist since it looks interesting, pays decent money and is not of risk to be replaced by AI.

My questions:

  1. I got my Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering in 2014, so I guess I'll have to study for requirements since it’s been a long time ago. I am pretty sure I'll be able to get high 80% to mid 90% for them. Based on this, how likely am I to be shortlisted?

  2. I heard that the BCIT program is quite demanding. Are there any moms who managed to balance the program with parenting? My son is in Grade 3, so I guess I’m looking for input from fellow mamas on whether it’s doable.

Thanks for any insights!
