2006 gt 4.6 3v crank but no start

I swapped the alternator with a js alternator high output. The post hit the crossover and started smoking the ground wire. Swapped back to oem. Fixed the wires with 1/0. The car refuses to start. Fuses are fine. Fuel pump is fine. The car is tuned for comp cams but didn’t have an issue till I did the alternator. It’ll crank and crank but won’t start. If I step on the gas pedal then crank it’ll “pop” like it’s wanting to start. Smells like fuel.
