I got tired of paying USD 15/seat for Slack and Notion, so I built an open-source frontend and a USD 19 self-hosted backend that replaces both (with local AI).

Hey everyone!

Like a lot of you, I've been getting frustrated with SaaS fatigue. Every tool wants $15/user/month, and having team chats in Slack, tasks in Asana, and docs in Notion means context-switching constantly.

So I spent the last few months building OneCamp.

It’s a 100% self-hosted unified workspace. It runs in a single Docker deploy on your own server.

What it does:

  • 💬 Channels & DMs: Full chat with threads and file sharing.
  • 📄 Real-time Docs: Notion-style collaborative editing (built on Y.js).
  • 📹 Video Meetings: Built-in HD calls (LiveKit).
  • 🤖 Local AI: Baked-in Ollama support. You can ask an AI to summarize a channel or search your docs, and the data never leaves your server.

The Business Model: I decided to go with an Open Core approach. The entire Next.js frontend is open-source (we just hit 50 stars!) so you can verify exactly what it's doing on the client side.

To fund development, I sell the backend binary as a one-time $19 purchase. No subscriptions. No per-seat fees. You buy it, you own it forever.

Would love your brutal feedback on the UI and the landing page!
