Safety considerations as a daily driver?

I’m about to start having a 1.5 hr total commute 3 days a week and am wondering if my 2004 c2 with 150k miles is viable purely from a safety perspective. Would you daily your 996 on highways in the northeast US with that frequency? How far off modern cars in terms of safety do you feel it is?
