Why is everyone taking Tate over Mendoza at the 1.02?

Prior to the draft, everyone had Fernando Mendoza as the clear 1.02. Since the draft, I’m seeing everyone pick Carnell Tate as the “clear 1.02”.

I understand Tate was drafted high, but do we actually think he’ll be generational? Or is this just OSU / recency bias?

Tate will be competing with Wandale for targets, who is the clear slot receiver and Ward always targets the slot. Mendoza was heisman, natty winner, and went undefeated.

Just curious everyone’s thoughts on who will return better long-term value. For context, I’m obviously only referring to superflex leagues.
