Question Regarding Armored Core 3 Portable

Hey all, I’m currently working through the 3rd Gen via PSP emulation for the first time. In regard to assembly, do the core pieces have different abilities? I saved up for the ORCA core along with other parts and instead of boosting, I have an orbiting weapon? If it’s another part I potentially swapped that would cause that, I’d appreciate the advice!
