Team leads/managers how do you deal with the fact that you can't know everything all the time when you have to rely on your people to work after hours or the weekend?
We have an issue with some new infrastructure that's going to require weekend work. I make it a point to not ask my people to work over time or even hours they don't want to work, sometimes it's just unavoidable in IT. We're remote, my teams are phenomenal. There was a time when I would have told them all to not worry about this and I'll handle it, which was fine by me. But we've grown enough that I can't just fix everything anymore.
For those of you who have moved up beyond the day to day, how do you handle this in terms of making sure your people know you care?
And for those of you still dealing with this stuff daily, what would you like to see from your manager in a situation like this?
