Always liked, never pursued

Relationship

I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but I’m starting to get tired of being liked… but never truly pursued.

Like, I know I’m a likable person. I’m kind, I’m smart, I take care of myself, I genuinely try to be a good partner. My friends always hype me up and say things like “any guy would be lucky to have you,” and I appreciate it… but it also makes me wonder — then why am I still here?

It’s not like there’s zero attention. There is. People flirt, people show interest, people get close… but it always feels surface-level. Like I’m someone they enjoy, someone they’re attracted to, maybe even someone they like — but not someone they choose. Not someone they actually pursue with intention.

And that’s the part that gets to me.

Because I’m not looking for something casual. I have so much love to give, and I know I’d show up fully for the right person. But sometimes it feels like I’m only ever seen as “almost.” Almost girlfriend material. Almost someone worth committing to — but not quite enough for them to take that step.

It makes me question things more than I’d like to admit. Like… is there something I’m missing? Is it timing? Is it just bad luck? Or am I somehow giving off the wrong energy?

There are days I’m okay with it. I focus on myself, my growth, my life. But there are also quiet moments where I wonder if real, intentional love will ever find me — or if I’ll just keep being someone people admire from a distance but never choose.

Anyway, just needed to get that off my chest. If you’ve ever felt the same, you’re not alone.
