I don’t usually post, but I feel like more dog owners in Kampala need to hear this.

This week we had a young puppy brought in—very weak, not eating, vomiting, and with bad diarrhea. The owner thought it was just a minor issue and waited a few days.

It turned out to be parvo.

By the time they came in, the puppy was already severely dehydrated. We had to start treatment immediately, and honestly, it could have gone either way.

The hardest part?
This is something that is almost completely preventable.

A lot of people don’t realize:

* Parvo is very common in Kampala
* It spreads easily (even from the ground or other dogs)
* Puppies are at the highest risk

What we usually advise is a simple vaccination schedule:

* 6 weeks
* 8 weeks
* 12 weeks

That alone can save you a lot of stress, money, and heartbreak.

We charge about **40,000 UGX per parvo vaccination**, and it’s honestly one of the most important things you can do early on.

If your puppy shows:

* Vomiting
* Bloody or very smelly diarrhea
* Loss of appetite
* Weakness

Don’t wait it out. Things can go bad very fast.

We’ve been seeing more cases recently, especially around Makindye, Nsambya, Kibuye, and Buziga.

Has anyone here dealt with parvo before? How did it go?

My puppy almost died from parvo in Kampala...... Lesson learnt the hard way
