Ranger armour and revolvers

I have no doubts this has been asked before but I can't seem to find a clear answer.

I want to do a theme build and the ranger armour looks good, with the bonus to lever action rifles and revolvers.

I've assumed that revolvers are literally just the .44 magnum, this means the .44 desert vulture won't get the buff because it's not a revolver right?

I ask because the wording is weird on this armour as there's like no revolvers category?
