Should I initiate contact??

So about a week ago my ex situationships friend added me on snap, but he never snapped me after I accepted. Which was random bc I haven’t talked to said ex for about a month but we do occasionally snap. I did think that that specific friend was actually super funny and at the time I couldn’t admit it but kinda cute, I did add him on insta and he never added me back which is fine but I’m wondering why he wolf then add me on snap??
