Temptation

Confession

I have been with my partner for 2 years going on 3. We live together and have for 6 months. Idk if that's relevant. I started a new job in January and someone else started a few weeks ago. I first saw him and my immediate thought was "nerd" i don't know why I thought that immediately as I've never really thought about that word as being insulting despite its intention. Regardless, now i know he is very smart and was hired to do a kind of "jack of many trades" thing. Anyway, I have been thinking about him a lot. Idk if it's just the fact of he's more than street smart, which I don't think he has much of that intellect, unlike my partner, but i do like being intellectually equal because it doesn't happen often in my daily life and my partner is again street smart but having an intellectual conversation is not always possible bc he's not as educated as I am in both school and the unquenchable thirst of knowledge. It's like I want to bully the coworker as if I'm 12. I'm so confused. My mother normalized cheating. She cheated on every man she married and some she didn't. I KNOW it's wrong. I'm in my late 20s. There's no excuse for this behavior or these thoughts. After all, it'll just lead to pain and devastation if acted upon. But I can't shake the feeling of catching him alone in the supply closet or the warehouse where the cameras can't reach. It might just be me but it does feel like there's sexual tension. We are both in a relationship yet he speaks to me everyday where others don't and he intentionally annoys me in a way I can't help but find attractive. I don't need advice. I know I'm screwed up. I just have to remind myself the destruction of my relationship would destroy my world. I love my partner and I dont know why these thoughts occasionally consume my mind. I wish they wouldnt. Its easier to resist temptation when you don't know of its charm. Thank you for listening. A pressure has been relieved from my heart. Maybe getting it out will help. I can't speak of this to anyone I know without fear of being shamed, rightfully so.
