Problems with Steam Controllers (2015)

Has anyone else been having problems today with 2015 Steam Controllers? Mine has been shutting off all day and after changing the batteries, and disconnecting and reconnecting the dongle I thought my SC might be dying.

I got my new-in-box backup out and it's doing the same thing. Is this a software issue?
