500T 7219 for Music Video
I'm planning to shoot with 7219 film for a music video (ARRI SR2 w/ Zeiss Super Speeds MKIII). Specifically, the scene will be a garage party with soft, low-contrast lighting, almost like De Palma's Carrie. My aim is to capture a sense of nostalgia in this scene by creating a soft, grainy look. I've already covered the softness with diffusion filters, so my next priority is grain.
I'm aware that 7219 has a larger, more pronounced grain structure, but in all my research, including test footage on YouTube, the film still has a look I can only describe as "clean," even in low-light conditions (however, my observations may be skewed by YouTube compression).
I guess it would be naive to say I want "more" grain for 500T film, but that is something I am looking to achieve with this music video. I understand that there are methods to achieve such a quality, such as rating the film at different speeds and push/pull processing.
Any thoughts or tips on the matter are much appreciated! :)
