Am I overreacting?

Rant

Long story short, he wanted to buy a 03 fixer upper truck for 2,000. At first it was “so we can tow something”… we have nothing to tow, so that’s an added expense. I’m not putting my baby in an old vehicle with outdated safety. Then it changed to a hobby, we won’t have time or money for hobbies (especially expensive and time consuming ones) once she arrives November 1st. Then it changed to “a good opportunity to make money” again, he won’t have the time or energy to put into extracurriculars after a full time job and baby duty. He tried every way to justify this and I’m not budging on my opinion.

He didn’t talk to me for 2 days because “he was sad” I said no to the truck. There’s other things our money could be spent on right now and in the future than a hunk of junk that doesn’t run. I asked for an apology and now I’m giving him the cold shoulder until I get a sincere apology other than “sorry I was sad”. He’s 38 years old he should be able to handle his emotions better than this. This is not what I want my child to think is normal behavior, but I don’t know if I should weaponize that in our “arguments” about this.

A little back story

Our monthly income is only 5,500 and rent is 2,000 with an additional 1400 in bills, not to mention his debt this money could go towards. I work for the school district so I will be out of income in 6 weeks. Our baby is due November 1st. I think he grossly underestimates how much it will cost to have a baby, and how much effort goes into a newborn/ toddler.
