Is this much breakage when adding conditioner normal?

I'm lwk new asf to this stuff and I noticed that whenever I'm applying practically anything onto my hair, there's some breakage, it's not much, like 10 strands at most, but I js wanted to make sure n stuff. I don't have a bonnet, would getting one be useful?
