What are the most impactful financial habits you've built - and what are the worst ones you've kicked?
Trying to identify what actually moved the needle for people, vs. what's noise. I'll go first:
Worked for me:
- Goal-setting on a 2-5yr horizon (turned vague ideas into actionable tasks)
- Maxing concessional super contributions early (the $30k cap and the compounding window are the biggest free wins HENRYs leave on the table)
- Avoiding lifestyle creep, kept living costs roughly flat through three pay rises
- Cycle-aware allocation (not timing peaks/bottoms — just noticing when an asset class is sitting in a historically stretched zone)
Cost me money:
- Day-trading
- Reacting to news headlines
- Holding too much cash, thinking I'd time the market (missed years of compounding)
Curious what's on your list.
