Need advice (16M)
So currently I’be been dating my girlfriend officially for a couple weeks now, though we’ve been talking for like two months and known each longer than that. She’s great, and I love her. She’s nice, she’s caring, and she’s considerate. I felt like we clicked on a lot of things, from what we want out of a relationship to shared values and goals. But I haven’t been able to see her much. She lives an hour away during the weekdays, and we’re both busy with school and tennis, and on the weekends she lives with her grandma who is very strict and anti fun, like doesn’t let her hang out at all. So I’m having trouble seeing her often. We try to hit (tennis) once a week, but it ain’t enough and the environment isn’t like a date environment. It’s just with distance and schedules right now we haven’t been able to see each other as much as I wanted. And as such I kind of rely on texting/snapping each other constantly to keep connected.
But it’s not really the same. For me my love language is like physical touch and it’s been something I’ve been missing. When we do hang out it’s awesome and we are super comfortable with each other, but it’s like once in a blue moon. I’ve always held on to summer being when we can finally hang out more, but what comes after that? Grade 12 would be even more busy. But the more immediate concern is after our last hangout, which I thought went great, I feel like she’s pulled back in closeness when we’re texting. She’d use to reply really fast and always continue the conversation, like we could talk for hours on end, but these last couple days I would be lucky to get a reply within an hour, and she’s always active on Snap/insta. Snap scores going up, tiktoks are getting reposted, but I’m still on delivered. Obviously I understand that life happens and I’m fine with this occasionally, but it’s becoming too much for me to handle. Based on her activity I think she’s on call often with friends whom I don’t know, which is fine, but regardless the more concerning thing for me is this only started very recently, like two, three days ago. She used to reply as soon as she was active and be honestly more proactive than me in starting convos and checking in.
I’m worried I did something wrong now when we hung out last, and so I texted her:
I’m still kinda figuring all of this out, and sometimes I worry I might be doing something wrong or making mistakes. But I really care about you, so if I ever am, please tell me. I just want to love you the right way and be better for you, because I love you so much ❤️
And she replied with yess ofcc, which is fine but again drier than what she usually would reply. She always reciprocated I love you’s before. And then later on as the trend continued I texted her again:
Hey, I noticed you’ve been a bit quieter than usual today. Just wanted to check in and make sure everything’s alright with us
And she’s like yeah just been busy yk.
Side note, on her insta story dump recently she posted her brother, and apparently her brother’s friend, but no photos of me. She’s also told me she had a lot of guy friends and I told her it was no problem, because I trust her.
I’m saying all this not because I suspect her of anything. I know who she is, and she’s smart, kind, and trustworthy. It’s just the recent lack of communication and clarity that have been weighing on me personally, especially given this is my first relationship ever, and I tend to be more anxiously attached. I do understand some of this is the result of my own insecurities about not being enough, but I don’t know how to deal with this mentally.
