USB-C to Mini Displayport adapter for MacMini 2?

I have a MacMini 2 that I want to hook up to an older Apple LCD Display (not thunderbolt). The usb-c to mini displayport adapter I have works with connecting the monitor to an M4 MacBook, but it will not work with the MacMini 2. I've read that the MacMini 2 is finicky about the adapter. Does anyone know a brand that does work? Thank you!
