I feel like ecchi/moe took over anime/internet in late 2000s and early 2010s and isekai took over the genre now, and fewer quality shows have been releasing?

Have you ever seen that animememes image of

"what I watched as kid vs what I watch now"

Its usually like

Then: cowboy bebop, dragonball, eva

Now: ecchi / moe

Now I think that meme applies to a lot of people

As a kid, I watched: Hayao Miyazaki movies, EVA, Gundam, DBZ, akira, outlaw star, trigun, cowboy bebop, big o, of course there was still ecchi series like Love Hina and stuff but they weren't the focus back then

Then as teen I was getting on internet

I watched: Air TV, Kanon, Clannad, Naruto, helsing, berserk, blaech, gatzbell, gantz, deaht note, etcsetcs orange host club, haibane renmei, lain, flcl, higurashi, ergo proxy, flcl, fma, chrono crusade, nhk ni yokoso

Many many more

See so far most of the animes have good plots, stories, unique characters,

Then I think it started a bit after Haruhi Suzumiya released, or something, the shows started to change, I was like 15 or something

Now i do like Haruhi, lucky star, and stuff, back then I was using them as my clan icons in games, but something started changing around this point I feel,a lot fanservice moe ecchi animes started coming out

I initially was like "fuck that trash anime" and didnt watch them but then I gave in and with the rise of hentai sites coming out same time I think it changed what was popular / making money and so degen/ecchi/moe started taking over lol

Now good shows still came out though like: gurren lagann, monogatari, mcross frontier, code geass , urawarerumono etcs

But shows/internet became increasingly ecchi/moe and it outweighed the good shows I feel and the market changed heavily into fanservice / moe

So you have stuff like kissxsis, toloveru, highschool dx, rosario vampire, etcs and tons of more generic ones releasing

then u get moe shows like kancolle, strike witches, oreimo, girls und panzer k on etcs

And many many other short moe/fanservice series/ cute girls doing cute things

Tbh I still liked them and am fans of abunch of the shows like haruhi, luckystar, shakugan no shana, oreimo, railgun, accelworld, toradora,k on, Angel Beats, durarara, squidgirl, soranowoto, nichijou, etcs

But I feel the type of anike changed completely, I think older shows were better, then during the 2010s it started changing to generic isekai stories and I think its still like that today? A lot of short generic isekai anime now?

I dont think I've watched much into the 2020s yet but eventhough Im still fan of those moe shows and they define my teens/early 20s I find myself now in my 30s wanting to watch "good plot" "serious shows" again so I've been watching

I kinda stopped watching anime for a while, I think the last few I seen before I stopped around 2018 were

Zombieland saga, love live, pingpong girl anime, konosuba, etcs

So I kind of had this image of all anime is moe Kawaii girls, but then I remembered a lot of the older anime I watched and how good it was so I wanted to watch some "serious plot" "good story" so getting back into anime I started watching one piece finally, I really enjoyed it, then I started watching a lot of the anime I missed and they turned out to be really good like

Overlord, Acendence of bookworm, golden kamuy, one piece (on episode 955 lol), dr. Stone (on ep 12 its interesting) etcs

Honestly I don't know the point im trying to make tbh I was just thinking overall of all the anime I watched throughout the years and genres I got into along the way
