What are attorney fees for a car accident?
Honestly, before this I had zero clue how attorney fees even worked for a car accident. I kinda assumed you had to pay a lawyer right away just to even talk to them, which already felt stressful. but then I found out most of them actually work on contingency, so basically you don’t pay unless you win or get a settlement. that part was a big relief for me. from what I understood, they usually take like 25% to 40%, depending on how complicated everything gets or if it ends up going to court.
What threw me off a bit though were the extra costs like filing fees, getting medical records, hiring experts, stuff like that. apparently those can still come into play, and some lawyers take those out before their cut, others after, which honestly confused me at first. it just made me realize you really gotta ask questions and not just assume everything’s covered the same way. definitely something I wish I knew earlier.
