When I purchased my car a year ago, I also downloaded Fuelio to track mileage and fuel costs. The car consistently overstates the mileage by 2-3 mpg.

Average: 30.36 mpg
Best: 33.70 mpg (most recent fillup)
Worst: 26.99 mpg (middle of winter)

Odometer: 12,615 miles
Avg Per Day: 33.4 miles
Avg Per Month: 940.4 miles

These are the lessons I've learned in my first year of driving a hybrid:

1. You can (and should) trigger EV mode by easing off the gas once you reach your desired speed.
2. I found that coasting without regen on helped my mileage more than driving with level 1, 2, or 3 always on. \*Do turn on auto regen braking every time you start your car.
3. Use panels for regen braking when possible, especially when decelerating from highway speeds. This also helps save your brakes.
4. Using the heat completely tanks mileage since it triggers the gas engine. Fortunately, I live in a place where the seat warmer was sufficient for most of the winter.
5. Longer drives tended to do better than shorter ones. My relatively flat 7-mile commute to work gets lower mpg than a 25-mile drive uphill to a park I go to 2-3 times per week.

Other notes you may find helpful:

1. The digital key has worked well for me, but be careful to never leave your phone in the car. I was wiping down the exterior of my car after a car wash, wiped over the car handle, and accidentally locked myself out.
2. I started carrying the regular key with me if I was going anywhere out of walking distance to my house, and I'm glad I did. I got a flat tire on the highway one night and had to get towed. If I didn't have the regular key, they wouldn't have been able to take the car.
3. I had a rattling in the back seat area anytime I was driving on a bumpy road, which was driving me crazy. I took it into the dealership and drove the car around while the mechanic sat in the back. The rattle wouldn't happen, and I thought I was actually going crazy. I started driving home, and it came back. I folded the back seats down, slid them all the way up to see if there was anything under them. Then I put them back as normal. That's when I realized that the seat wasn't fully locked into the track. **The rattle was the seat shaking because it was not latched into the track.**
4. I've had 2 oil changes. First at 2,300 miles, then another at 9,300 miles. I did not notice any change in mileage.

Overall, I love this car. It makes me happy when I get in it to drive. I did a road trip from NorCal to LA. I would have dreaded that type of drive in my old 2014 Subaru. The Santa Fe made it comfortable and easy. Having lane centering and adaptive cruise control on the highway is wonderful. And ventilated seats?? Incredible.
