Single Mom & Son Relocating to LA County from WV - What advice can you give me?

I’m a single mom (late 30s) of a 11 year old son and we are trying to relocate to California from (Morgantown,) West Virginia.

I’m originally from NY state and have experienced living in a few different states in my life (NY, AL, WY, and WV). My son was born here in WV and has only ever lived here.

Looking at LA County or bordering counties specifically for the job mass markets and the weather. I’m in HR and have a few interviews coming up in these areas.

What advice can you give me about relocating?

Not into the party or social scenes. I’m pretty boring when it comes to hobbies, but we love MLB and NHL and appreciate the Dodgers lol. He also plays baseball and basketball rec leagues.

I am looking into charter schools or public school systems for my son. He’ll be going into middle school (6th grade) for the 26-27 SY.

No family or friends out there (no family here in WV either), so we’ll be starting from scratch and actually both looking forward to it.
