Chapter I Henry
It was early in the morning, cool, with a light breeze in the air. In the hills outside of L.A., there was a neighborhood full of luxury mansions. On top of one of the hills sat a multi-million-dollar mansion. A lush, green lawn surrounded the property. Out front was a sleek, white luxury RV, about thirty feet long and eight feet wide, with dark-tinted windows.
Near the RV was Henry, who felt restless walking back and forth around the RV. His hands could’t stop shaking like they had a mind of their own. “Hey, Direct, when are we leaving?”
Direct, a Hispanic man with short black hair. Took a long look at Henry. “Everyone, time to go!” He shouted.
Inside the front RV was a living room with two office chairs, a L-shaped couch, and a small Kitchen. In the back was a bedroom with a queen-sized bed, and outside the bedroom, towards the right side, was a small bathroom with a shower.
Everyone was sitting down on their phones, saying nothing, while Harry's foot couldn't stop shaking up and down. “I have to take a shit,” he got up from his chair, went to the bathroom, shut the sliding door, and locked it. The bathroom was small, modern, and minimalist, around thirty square feet. There is a shower, a toilet, and a sink. Henry takes out a Ziploc bag packed with powder and lays it on the counter. He slowly starts to pour out some of the powder onto the counter. Making a small mountain out of the powder.
Feeling good about the amount he poured out, he zipped up the bag and set it on the counter. He pulls outa from his card from his leather wallet and makes lines out of the powder. Henry smiled, put the phone up to his nose, and snorted one of the lines of powder. “Yes,” he said outloud. He lets out a big sigh of relief and rubs his nose. He feels a burst of energy and snorts another line. “Oh my god!”
With the little room he has in the bathroom, he walks around. Feeling more drowsy, he prepares to take another line. As Henry was getting ready to snort another line, he looked at the mirror. glances at the mirror, but he never notices how small his pupil is. It was as if he realized he had powder on his nose and his bloodshot eyes. His face was thinner than it was a year ago, and he never noticed the amount of weight he lost. “God, I look like shit,” he said out loud. As he turned on the sink, he looked up, staring at the bathroom window, and the morning sky was coming out. He smiled, “What a beautiful day.”
All of a sudden, his whole body starts to shake. He steps back, walking into the shower and sliding down to the ground. Henry felt tired like he hadn't slept in days. When he closed his eyes, his life started to flash before his eyes. He started to remember growing up in a small apartment in London. With his parents and his younger brother. His brother, who was in his early teens, was always annoying him, clinging to him. His mother was headstrong and emotional, but she cared. There was little he knew of his dad; he was mostly out working. Henry could disrobe the feelings running through his mind. On one hand, he couldn't feel his body the other, he was tired. As he looked through the transparent shower door and threw the window, he started to lose consciousness.
