"The ax forgets, but the forest remembers"
Recently I re-read the sentiment, "The axe forgets but the forest remembers."
Heard a bunch of versions of that, but after I read it, I kept thinking about the axes.
How I can't ever make them see the damage they did because they don't even remember. They never will. No matter what proof I bring to the table.
I was all sad about the damn axe.
I repeated the phrase.
The axe forgets, but the forest remembers.
*LIGHTENING*
I AM A GODDAMN FOREST.
Me!
And it doesn't matter how fast that axe swings, because I am a forest. I am growing always. Healing. Reaching for the sun as I shelter the saplings under my branches.
I am a forest.
And when i work my therapy I'm working to keep my forest healthy. Ripping strangling vines and clearing dead fall. Making sure the new growth is strong and true.
Because I am a forest.
And I will not fall to an axe wielded by a coward.
They're lucky I'm not Fangorn.
