Anyone else using the Sports Center to decompress during thesis crunch?
Genuinely asking because Reed's academic culture is intense in a way that I think makes consistent training harder to maintain here than at a lot of other schools. When you're deep in thesis mode or grinding through a particularly brutal conference period, the Sports Center either becomes a lifeline or the first thing that gets dropped. Doesn't seem like there's much in between.
I've been thinking about how people actually track their workouts when they do manage to stay consistent. Not in a performative way, just the basic stuff: are you logging anything, or is it more freeform? Because I built a workout tracking app called Fortis and I'm looking for people at Reed to try it out and tell me honestly what works and what doesn't.
It's strength-focused with RPE logging, estimated 1RM tracking, and the ability to see friends' progress over time, which honestly might be more useful at a smaller school where you actually know the people you train with. Custom exercises and templates too so you're not locked into someone else's idea of what a workout should look like.
If you lift at the Sports Center or just try to stay consistent between hikes and canyon walks, give it a shot. All feedback is genuinely welcome, including the critical kind.
