What actually triggers you to revisit notes you saved weeks ago?

question

For me the trigger never reliably comes. I save a note, it sits, and I either stumble across it later by accident or forget it existed.

I’ve tried scheduled review sessions, but the list is always longer than I can get through, and it starts to feel overwhelming rather than useful.

So I’m wondering what actually drives retrieval in practice. Is it supposed to come from linking notes over time, or from some kind of intentional review habit?

Right now it feels like capture is easy, but resurfacing isn’t. What’s the mechanism that makes notes come back into use consistently?
