Delighted for Konate contract extension.

I know there’s been a lot of debate around Konate’s contract and whether it would be better to let him go or not, but I believe the extension is the right way to go.

Assuming Virg leaves next summer when his contract ends, and Joe Gomez potentially leaves this summer. If we were to let Konate go on a free, we’d be left with 3 CB’s (Virg, Leoni and Jacquet) going into next summer. Now we could go out and purchase 1/2 other CB’s to fill up those spaces, but do we really have the budget?

Additionally, if we could afford it, it could end up being a case of too much change at one time as seen this season. Leoni can basically be seen as a new signing (in the context of in game experience with Virg and Ibou).

Ideally, we don’t get rid of any CB’s this season, including Gomez for the homegrown aspect that we are struggling with, and look towards next summer for more recruitment at the back.

Those are my two cents about the situation, what do ye all think?
