BCPD Pursuit Policy: The "Don't Break the Physics" Edition
1. Stay in the Damn Lane
Listen up: quit the weaving. You are to stay directly behind the suspect at all times. Do not go left, do not go right, and don't try to get cute by pulling up beside them early. If you start swerving around, you’re just going to clip a curb or some invisible geometry and send yourself into a 720-degree barrel roll. Keep it linear, keep it steady, and just track their bumper.
2. The "Two-Crunch" Rule
This is the big one. You are not allowed to touch that suspect until they’ve smashed into at least two other cars. We need to see actual soft-body deformation—crumpled hoods, sagging frames, or wheels pointing in directions they shouldn't. Why? Because if you hit them while their car is "fresh," the physics engine usually just makes you bounce off like a toy. Once they’ve hit two cars, their frame is already stressed and "softened up," making your PIT actually stick.
3. The PIT Maneuver (No Speed Limit)
Once—and only once—they’ve hit those two cars, you have the green light to take them out. At this point, we don't care how fast you’re going. If you're doing 150 mph in a Bastion and you see the opening, send it. If their car turns into a flat pancake or the engine block gets ejected into the stratosphere, that’s their problem. Just make sure you hit the rear quarter-panel so you don't just weld your front bumper into their trunk.
4. If You Break It, You Bought It
If you ignore the two-car rule and try to PIT them early, don’t come crying to the shop when your radiator leaks or your front axle snaps. If you "spaghettify" your cruiser because you were impatient, you’re walking back to the precinct.
5. The Reset Protocol
If the PIT is successful but you end up with your car clipped inside theirs, or if you're stuck on your roof, do not sit there burning your tires. Once the suspect is "Totaled" and the simulation settles down, you’re cleared to hit [R] and get back to base.
Bottom line: Wait for the crunch, then hit 'em hard. Stay safe out there in Belasco.
