Observations
Without Seales playing the Leewards batting were finally able to put up some runs, the only problem was that they had already conceded 500 runs. In some mostly timid conditions the international caliber players really stood out in this game, outside of the batters Anderson Phillip got 8 wickets in the game and Karina Gore got a 4 for. I’m really struggling to find something to talk about this game but it was really just about the batters the bowlers had to toil hard to get anything, this imo is a good learning curve for the bowlers to toil a bit and work hard.
Barbados had to win this game convincingly to qualify for the playoffs and they did so inside 3 days, it was a total team effort from them, on the Jamaican side of things their middle order continues to disappoint, after Campbell and McKenzie they haven’t been able to get any contributions from their middle order and that really killed their chances of making this a competitive game and getting into the playoffs, they got spun out in both innings with only 2 of the 20 wickets falling to pace.
Guyana vs Windwards was the best match of this, with Tage basically batting all the way through in both innings, he’s still batting a bit too slow for my liking but he’s really seems to be making an effort to apply himself even more than before. The windwards were in this until the last day but they needed more from their best players to chase this target, Athanaze finally got some runs this season on a tough pitch, he played well in both innings but again it was that man Motie giving the Windwards trouble again, really can’t see how Motie isn’t the first choice spinner when the test season starts.
