Supporting the engine for crash protection?

Recently purchased the SW Motech crash bars and it specifically states to "support the engine" during installation. How would you go about that? I have a couple different jacks but the only place to put it would be underneath the oil pan which as I understand, is cast aluminum... so that doesn't seem smart. How would you all go about it?

Also, some of you out there are aware of the myth/fact speculating as to wether or not installing crash protection can damage the frame
