What unexpected improvements have you noticed after starting meds?
Been taking vyvanse for four months now and cannot believe the impact it’s had on my life. There’s all the standard stuff, like the quiet mind (aka the default setting for most ppl?! HOW), improved focus and motivation, emotional regulation, yada yada yada.
But I’m fascinated/awed by all the unexpected bonuses. For the first time in my life, I’m researching skincare and haircare specific to me instead of doing the bare minimum with whatever’s half-price at the supermarket. I’m figuring out what colour and style clothes suit me (apparently my skin is warm toned - who knew!). I’m moisturising my body daily instead of monthly-if-that and my skin is sooo soft… I’m putting thought into decorating my living space, never have my cupboards been so fking organised, and the deep cleaning … lawd, the deep cleaning.
Most significantly, I’m in the midst of a relationship breakdown, which genuinely sucks, but I have this unfamiliar - borderline unsettling - sense of clarity and strength. Like I don’t feel the need to be 100% responsible for fixing something I haven’t broken. And after a lifetime of being a pathological peace keeper and people pleaser, to the point I have all but suffocated my own identity, this is so incredibly freeing despite the relationship grief.
This ended up being longer than intended so pls forgive my ramblings. I’m curious to know what unexpected benefits others have noticed since starting meds!
