Question about Aayla Secura

I'm rewatching The Clone Wars, and I'm on the episode where they crash land on the planet with the pacifist monkey guys. Aayla says she had to let her master go. I thought her master was Quinlon Vos. Did she have a master that died and then Vos took over or something?
