Spin Off or New Idea?

I had a dream that somehow there was a spin off to the Fatal Frame series that had to do with the Appalachia. I actually laughed because I’m not sure how it would work given the whole Appalachia is a haunted mess. What if the person looked into the camera obscura and just lost their minds immediately? How did the camera even end up there? Yes, to me this is hilarious and probably wouldn’t work. I’m pretty sure Aso didn’t come to America, so having a camera would be ridiculous.

It was a funny dream though. But if any of you had to attempt to make something work and not have the spin off game flop too horribly, what are things you would try to implement? The mountain range is huge, the cheesy spin off would have to be in one area. And with stories of missing people and portals in state parks… I’d find it all amusing to see how that culture would do. Probably not well.

I feel like the only way this would possibly be a good idea would be mountains in Japan inspired by the Appalachia. Probably in Hokkaido with Ainu influences (indigenous). I’d actually play that. And it wouldn’t be a spin off. Just a different culture in Japan with different beliefs. Something new.
