Daughter of a Widow

hello all!

I am 27F writing in this on behalf of my father (69F). I'm one of three kids (41F and 45M).

Our father has been a widow for about 18 years now. He has made the decision to solo travel in Europe for the next few months, and I don't know why, but we are all a bit uneasy.

He's in great health, loves to travel, just feel like there may be a bit of grief clouding him during this time. Almost like he's feeling this sense of depression around his age and that his wife is not here to travel with him. (Or perhaps we're projecting).

I want to know - has anyone in their late 60's gone on a solo traveling excursion and had their kids smothering them about it? What was it like traveling alone? What did you gain from the experience?

Thank you in advance for any replies !!
