NYS hiring process – got a call asking about driver’s license, good sign?

Question

Hi all,
I recently interviewed for a position with the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance, and I’m trying to get a sense of where I stand in the process.
Here’s my timeline:
Applied and was contacted to schedule an interview (no real phone screening, just scheduling)

Completed one in-person interview on early April

Before the interview, I was asked to fill out Form HRM-300 and bring it with me

After the interview, I was later asked to officially submit the HRM-300 again by a deadline (COB 4/28)

Today (5/5), I received a quick phone call asking if I have a valid NY State driver’s license. I said yes, and that was it.

I haven’t received any formal updates yet, so I’m not sure how to interpret this.

For those who have gone through NYS hiring (especially Tax or similar agencies), is this a good sign? Or is this just a standard step for multiple candidates?

Appreciate any insight!
