why your circuit “should be fine” but still trips
i keep seeing this come up, especially with DIY stuff
people add up the nameplate watts, see it’s under the breaker rating, and assume everything is fine
then it trips anyway and it feels random
a couple things that usually get missed:
not everything runs at nameplate all the time
motors and compressors spike on startup
some loads run longer than you think, so you’re basically in continuous load territory
cheap power strips and extension cords add heat and resistance, especially under load
and breakers don’t trip at exactly their rating, time and heat matter
also voltage drop starts to show up more than people expect on longer runs
point is, “on paper it fits” doesn’t always match real life
curious what stuff you guys see trip circuits that technically shouldn’t
