Is API doomed?

A couple of customers recently asked me for standard API integrations for my app.
I am going to build them.

But looking at my feed, you would think standard APIs are old news.

Every new tool seems to be adding an MCP server.

The logic is cool: Build an API, wrap it in an MCP server, and let external agents like Claude do all the heavy lifting instead of building an internal AI chatbot.

I expect my customers to start asking for this soon.

But before I spend the time building an MCP wrapper for Xroad Studio, I want to know where the market actually is.

My feed is full of AI early adopters, so my view is skewed.

For your everyday workflows right now...
Are you still manually connecting tools using standard APIs?
Or have you already made the jump to MCP and agentic integrations?
