I Accidentally Became a Bouncer at a Strip Club… and Slept With My Best Friend’s Wife (Part 1)
This is a true story from earlier in my life. It sounds insane, but every part of it actually happened. I’ve used AI to help structure and clean up the writing so it reads properly, but the events themselves are exactly as they occurred.
At the time, I was working construction and just trying to find somewhere cheap enough to live while I got my life sorted.
A friend from the site and his wife had a spare room—more like a small self-contained space with a kitchenette and its own bathroom, kind of like a granny flat. They offered it to me at low rent so I could get back on my feet.
Money was tight for them as well. They had a young kid, and his wife was staying home to look after them. After a few months, she got a job working nights. I was told she was waitressing, and that went on for about three or four weeks without much thought.
Then one night, around 3am, I got woken up by my friend in a full panic.
That was when he told me the truth.
She wasn’t waitressing—she was working as a stripper.
She had just called him because another dancer had threatened to jump her when she left the club, apparently over some jealousy involving a client. He couldn’t go himself because their kid was asleep at home, and she was too afraid to leave alone.
So he asked me to go pick her up.
It was awkward, obviously. She was embarrassed, I’d just been dropped into something I hadn’t known about, but I went anyway. I pulled up, she came out, and we drove home without any real issue beyond the tension of the situation.
For the next couple of nights, she didn’t go back to work. She was shaken up. Then one night I overheard a massive argument between them. It went on for a while, but eventually things settled down.
Not long after, my friend came to speak to me.
He had a favour to ask.
She was still scared to go back to work alone, and he couldn’t leave the house at night because of their kid. So he asked me to take her to the club, stay there while she worked, and bring her home afterward.
She was completely against the idea at first. It was bad enough that I now knew what she did, but this meant I would be there watching it happen. Eventually, she agreed.
We worked out an arrangement. I would drive her there, stay the night to make sure she was safe, and bring her home. In return, I wouldn’t have to pay rent.
It was awkward and more than a bit surreal, but it worked.
On the second night I was there, she came off stage and a drunk customer got too handsy. The bouncer was on the other side of the room, so I stepped in and pulled the guy off her. Similar situations happened a few more times over the next week—stepping in when customers crossed the line, breaking things up before they escalated.
About a week in, I was outside waiting for her to finish and get changed when the club owner came out and handed me an envelope.
I asked him what it was, and he told me it was a tip—for working that night.
He said he’d seen what I’d been doing. If I was going to keep it up, he wanted to hire me.
That’s how it started.
If there’s interest, I’ll post Part 2.
