3rd Year BTech CSE Student with 25 Backlogs – Need Advice on GATE and Career Future

my_qualifications: 3rd year (6th semester) BTech CSE student

I currently have around 25 backlogs, mostly due to lack of attendance, but all are officially counted as backlogs.

I want to understand a few things:

1. Will having so many backlogs create issues if I prepare for and give GATE?

2. Is it realistically possible to clear all backlogs within 1 year?

3. If I complete my BTech in 5 years instead of 4, will the degree still hold value if I build strong skills and projects?

I’m willing to work hard and improve, but I want honest guidance on whether recovery is possible and what path I should focus on.

Any advice or real experiences would really help.
