Snail balteus is giving me an aneurism, how do I dodge plasma ball AOE

Title says it all, I didn't have much trouble with balteus 1 but this guy is absolutely maiming me. I can dodge almost everything with a decent amount of consistency except for the large wave of plasma bubbles, it seems almost impossible to not take at least 3-4k worth of damage from it, if you're lucky. This is my first playthrough so I dont have access to the shoulder plasma guns, only the handheld ones with no range, not enough ammo to finish the fight and an overheat timer of less than a second, so they're more of a liability than anything. Honestly if anyone has tips on even just avoiding that plasma ball wave consistently I can probably beat him, but for now his attacks layer on top of one another in such a way that damage can feel unavoidable, which just sets me up for instant death once that wave comes out
