M25 Progressive numbness in right hand (thumb, index, middle finger)

Dear Docs of Reddit,

Since last year, I've been experiencing progressive numbness in my right thumb, index, and middle finger, especially during activities like motorcycle riding or using an Xbox controller (gaming session >1h). It has gradually worsened from mild tingling last year to almost complete loss of sensation and pressure feedback under load. Sometimes I can barely feel the brake lever while riding. The numbness only improves if I completely take my hand off the handbar.

Important details:

  • Only the right hand is affected

  • Symptoms are reproducible

  • It's not just discomfort - it's actual sensory loss

  • No pain in my hand or lower arm

  • Symptoms have been getting worse over time

I saw an orthopedist today who diagnosed medial epicondylitis and told me to "just ride less motorcycle".

My question:
Does medial epicondylitis actually explain numbness?
From what I understand, the median nerve typically innervates that region, and epicondylitis typically causes pain rather than sensory loss.
Should I seek a neurological evaluation, or is the orthopedist's explanation plausible?

Thanks in advance for any insight.
