Need good edition to read metamorphosis by franz kafka

This will be my first time reading Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, and I’m really excited (and a bit nervous) to finally dive into it. I’ve heard so much about its famous opening line and the way it explores alienation, family dynamics, and the absurdity of existence, but I don’t want to go in with a cheap or heavily simplified translation that might ruin the experience.

Could anyone recommend a good, reliable edition for a first-time reader? I’m looking for one with a clear, engaging English translation that stays faithful to Kafka’s style — preferably with a helpful introduction that gives some context about Kafka’s life and the historical background without overwhelming me with too much criticism right away. Which translation or publisher would you suggest for someone approaching this classic for the first time? Thanks!
