Evil Dead Burn Red Band Vs. 2013 Red Band makes Burn look so . . . tame?

Discussion

Trying to just kind of talk through it here - to gauge if Im just getting numb to stuff after a decade of thinking 2013 is just a spectacular masterpiece, and comparing the red band trailers at least, Burn looks incredibly safe?

Im hoping the family dynamics will be really cruel, because in Rise things could have been SO much more mean, and I think thats what Im missing here.

Do you think 2013 is just such a high bar that Im just not seeing it? Ive watched the trailer several times already (because I AM excited for it) but from the trailer and levels of psychotic scenes from 2013 its like - yeah man Ive seen this.

I personally feel like in horror more than anything, envelopes need to be pushed with subsequent films. Im excited about a deadite car scene for sure and undoubtedly a house burning down at the end, but Rise left such a regressive taste in my mouth and the upcoming back-to-back frequency really makes me want to just be like "BE MEANER" lol. I dont think its JUST gore effects and creative kills but that PLUS psychological manipulation/ deadites playing with their food, etc.

Im not a HUGE Terrifier fan either, but I do wonder if those movies, their violence and cruelty has really skewed expectation in any post-2013 Evil Dead films.

Idk. All of its speculation obviously. I didnt think 2013 was going to be whatbit was goingbin either, but I want to understand if Im alone in this so I can have proper expectations. It'll make me enjoy the movie more, if that make sense.
