So what should I do leading up to this event?

I'm (79M) not even scheduled for surgery yet. My knee Doc, TKR 7 & 9 years ago, told me my hip wasn't working when I went back with a complaint about my knee. X-rays showed bone on bone, he got me scheduled with the hip Doc coming up soon. It's gotten difficult to walk. What should I continue doing?
