Question on the Prime Tower and multimaterial prints

I am using PETG as support for PLA, and the prime tower keeps failing. Obviously, it's because PETG and PLA don't stick to each other. So this brings me to my question. Should I even print a Prime Tower when I am printing multimaterial prints? Any help on this would be much appreciated, too.
