Olden Era Graphics

Hey everyone,

the only HoMM game that I have played (and still play sometimes) is HoMM V, I was born 1998 so I did not play any of the older games.

I was not aware that a new HoMM game was coming, but I saw it on steam and decided to try it.

What really surprised are the graphics. To my eyes, they look worse than HoMM 5, and I dont really mean design wise, but just quality wise.
It looks like a game that was released in 2004 or something. I especially notice this during battles.

The creatures look like I am watching an anime at lowest video quality, none of the units look menacing or pretty to me at all. Also the animations and sound effects of the units are very lackluster to me compared to HoMM 5, a game that was released 20 years ago (?!).

So Iam just confused why the game looks the way it does, is that something that is wanted from the HoMM community? Again, I did not follow the development of this game at all, and I dont really know what other players of HoMM games like or dont like.

But I was baffled when I started playing it because I couldnt believe that the graphics could be this bad, it literally looks like a game that you can play for free on your phone. I refunded it after like 20 minutes.

But I only really hear positive feedback on the game, why is no one else bothered by terrible graphics? Do you guys only play HoMM games and no modern games at all?
