Satan comes across as more sympathetic in Islam vs Christianity

General Discussion

In the bible, by being introduced to us as an angel its made clear that everything that makes Satan who he is comes from Allah so when he decides to be prideful, hes merely capitalizing on the assets he was given. It can easily be compared to a spoiled child throwing a tantrum over their younger sibling.

By making Satan a djinn, he is no longer born in this state of faux perfection. Rather, he has to earn his spot in heaven through conviction. This imo muddies the moral messaging, as Ibless has a legitimate reason to believe hes better than someone like Adam, who had yet to achieve anything in the name of Allah or otherwise.

Ultimately, this difference makes Allah's demands seem a lot less fair as Ibless's efforts are being undermined for the new guy.

To use as analogy, imagine you were working at a company and you were the hardest worker who spent years cultivating a relationship with your boss. Now imagine one day your boss brings a new employee on board for some random position he just made up and demands everyone bows down to them or theyre fired.

I imagine any self respecting individual would be furious, with many seeing this as a violation of their rights that should be taken to court. Problem is, in Allah's case he is both the boss and the courts, so your only option is to accept unfair circumstances or suffer. From a perspective of justice and fairness, wouldnt Satan be in the right?

Ultimately, Ibless does default to his inherent attributes making him superior to Adam but Ive always found that inconsistent with how Satan was portrayed prior. It makes sense for the Satan of the Bible to act this way, but the Satan of the Quran couldn't have gotten where he was in Jannah if he always had this sort of entitlement festering underneath. To me, the Satan of the Quran reads as someone frustrated with not being properly acknowledged for their work, a feeling any human can relate to.
