My 1st game's page is on Steam! I'm a solo dev. Any engagement tips and opinions on the game?
I'm developing my first commercial game as a solo dev, and I've reached a critical point where I really need your help and advice.
The project is called Folclore Xamin. It's a run-and-gun focusing on twins Xande and Ana, set in the Amazon featuring bosses from Brazilian folklore (like the Saci). I'm doing all the traditional 2D frame-by-frame animation myself using Toon Boom, and putting it together in Godot 4.
My current situation is:
- My Steam page just went live!
- I'm rushing to get a playable demo ready for the upcoming Steam Next Fest.
- I want to launch a crowdfunding campaign (Catarse/Ko-fi) to finish the project.
My biggest hurdle right now: I have absolutely zero community. I'm starting from scratch.
Looking at the gameplay video I attached, I'd really love to know:
- Does the frame-by-frame animation style and premise catch your eye? Does the game look like it has a future?
- What tips do you have for someone who needs to build an audience from zero before launching a crowdfunding campaign? Where and how should I focus my marketing?
Any harsh critiques on the game or marketing advice will help me out a lot.
And if you like the project and want to give a massive boost to a solo dev, wishlisting it on Steam is the biggest support possible right now: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4665370/Folclore_Xamin/?beta=0
