Gone 8/10 Years Deprived, Asking for 3 Months More on a "Maybe"
Husband (M29 LL) and Me (F29 HL)
My husband didn't always have LL and pursued sex and adjacent activities for the first couple years we were together, then things tapered off.
Throughout all of this, I will admit he has struggled on and off with agoraphobia of varying severity and the fear of throwing up specifically which has caused a long term gap in nutrition. Especially so because he wanted to be "vegan" but refused to eat nutritiously and just ate sugar and carbs.
Fast forward to now, he has been experiencing exhaustion to the point of major concern. Inability to operate in a day without napping every second he can and immediately falling asleep. I finally forced him to get bloodwork (he faints and is terrified of needles) and we paid $1,200 out of pocket for this which covered as wide of a variety of diagnostic blood tests as possible. (Autoimmune, Cancer, Thyroid, etc)
I am thankful that the results came back with nothing life altering, just indications of severe B12 / Folate deficiency and high SHBG (which is a result of low B12) which are due to his horrid eating habits.
I tell him he has no choice now but to eat properly and take a B12 vitamin, and he has been doing that for about 3 days now. I nearly immediately saw a difference in how alert he is, but still a long way to go. Generally, these things should be more resolved after 3 months of treatment.
Here is the issue: I've been going 8 years with minimal sexual interactions, intercourse or otherwise. This has always been one of the most important forms of love to me, and I've never hid that.
We have a conversation last night where ultimately he says he isn't sure that if he does everything right and eats properly and takes his vitamins that he will get better enough to be able to have sex with me, and he thinks this is unfair to me.
I'm beyond exasperated with this situation, and I want to convince myself to give it those 3 months because I'm not convinced that he won't get better. But I don't know what reserves I'm going to pull from to make it work.
Any advice for coping habits to get through the next few months would be appreciated. I've already been living of self "loving" for a while, but I also am thoroughly disgusted anytime I try to envision sex with another person, so even if I left, I still have that to work through.
